Elizabeth Township prepares to discuss proposed data center and gas plant
An Allegheny County proposal combines a data-center campus with on-site electricity generation. A town hall is scheduled for October 13.
Elizabeth Township is considering a developer's concept for a data-center campus and natural-gas power plant on a former landfill, Pittsburgh's Public Source reported October 5. The proposed project would occupy a 549-acre parcel and could include 11 to 28 data-center buildings.
Township officials describe it as being under discussion. A town hall is planned for October 13. The developer's claims about water use, electricity prices and tax revenue are not established project outcomes.
